PISCATAWAY, N.J.  – No. 21 Rutgers field hockey concluded the regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 6-0 loss to No. 21 Maryland (12-5, 6-2 Big Ten). Prior to the game, Rutgers honored five graduating seniors – captains
Haley Meade and
Simrin Dhillon,
Jade Dixon,
Jessica Carey and
Katie Beilin.
"Senior Day is always an emotional game," head coach
Meredith Civico said "These five young women have done a really great job creating a culture here at Rutgers, a culture that welcomes everybody, seniors to freshmen. The five of them have done an incredibly job helping all our young players feel instantly a part of this team. I really credit them for creating that. They are a really great group of people on and off the field. They have had a great impact on this program." The Scarlet Knights concluded the regular season and 9-8 overall. The team was 3-5 in Big Ten play, its most ever conference wins since joining the Big Ten.
Maryland capitalized on a 17-5 advantage in shots on the day. The Terps got hat tricks from Melissa Wilken and Madison Maguire.
Gianna Glatz made seven saves for the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers will play next in the Big Ten Tournament. RU is the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 Northwestern for a game at 12:30 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, October 29 for the first round.
