No. 25 Women’s Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season Road Slate at Indiana

Scarlet Knights travel to Bloomington for a Saturday matchup with the Hoosiers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 25 Rutgers women's soccer will wrap up its regular season road schedule with a trip to Indiana on Saturday. Match time is set for 5 p.m. ET in Bloomington.
 
RUTGERS QUICK KICKS
  • Rutgers (10-2-4, 4-2-3 Big Ten) posted two ranked shutouts over the weekend. First, the Scarlet Knights played then-No. 13 Penn State to a 0-0 double-overtime draw, becoming just the second team to blank the Nittany Lions this season. Then, RU added a 1-0 victory over then-No. 12 Ohio State, halting a six-game win streak for the Buckeyes.
  • Sophomore forward Brittany LaPlant was named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the game winner against OSU. It marked her third goal of the season and fifth of her career.
  • Redshirt junior goalkeeper Casey Murphy picked up Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting six saves in net across the shutouts. She moved into third place in Big Ten history and second in RU history with 41 career shutouts, including a nation-best 12 shutouts this season.
  • Murphy leads the Big Ten and ranks in the top five nationally in GAA (0.30) and save percentage (.911). Murphy has stopped 51 of 56 shots on goal in net this year.
  • The Scarlet Knights are ranked in all three major polls, including No. 21 by Soccer America and No. 24 by TopDrawerSoccer.com. RU sits at No. 15 in the NCAA Women's Soccer RPI.
SCOUTING INDIANA
  • Indiana (6-7-4, 2-4-3 Big Ten) registered a win and a tie over the weekend, topping Iowa by a score of 2-1 before a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Nebraska.
  • In net, Bethany Kopel maintains a 1.23 GAA, including 82 saves and five shutouts. Kopel was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after recording a career-high 12 saves in the win over Iowa, the most by a Big Ten goalkeeper this season.
  • The Hoosiers' offense is led by Maya Piper with 16 points, including seven goals and two assists.
  • Chandra Davidson follows with 14 points, including six goals and two assists.
SERIES VERSUS INDIANA
  • Rutgers owns a 2-0-1 lead in the all-time series against Indiana. All three matchups have come in Big Ten Conference contests.
  • The teams last played to a 2-2 double-overtime draw last season.
