CHIBA, Japan - Rutgers swimmers Shayna Longacre (Barto, Pa.) and Catherine Whetstone (Haven Beach, N.J.) wrapped up their competition with Team USA at the Japan International Grand Prix meet by posting superb times.
Longacre swam the 200 meter breaststroke, finishing with a personal best time of 2:34.33. Her time garnered a 19th place finish in the event and ranks her in the top 150 in the world. Longacre's 100 meter breaststroke time of 1:10.28, that she recorded earlier in the competition placed her 15th in that event and in a tie for the 50th fastest in the world.
Whetstone competed in the 100 meter butterfly and finished in 21st place with a time of 1:00.60. The time was just slightly off the 1:00.01 time that she posted at US Nationals, which ranks Whetstone 48th in the world.
