PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers women’s lacrosse team (8-3, 1-2 BIG EAST) is ranked 20th in this week’s Brine/IWLCA Coaches Poll (April 14). It marks the first time since the 2001 season that the Scarlet Knights have been mentioned in the poll.
The Knights were rated 20th in the country in the 2001 preseason poll. The last time RU was ranked during the regular season was in 2000, when the team was ranked as high as 11th and finished the season 19th in the IWLCA poll with a 7-8 record.
RU also was rated 18th in the country this week according to the Warrior/Inside Lacrosse Power Poll (April 14) and 20th by womenslacrosse.com (April14). This is the Knights first mention in either poll.
In addition, senior Melissa Mosey (Skaneateles, NY) was named an honorable mention player of the week by InsideLacrosse.com. This is Mosey’s second honor of the week after being named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, April 14. She is the second Scarlet Knight to earn honorable mention status, matching junior Cristina Curiale’s (Summit, NJ) award from March 17.
Sophomore goalie Lyndsey Feldman (Ft. Myers, FL) was named womenslacrosse.com’s Division I player of the week after earning the BIG EAST defensive player-of-the-week award for the second time this season. She is the first Scarlet Knight to earn the award from womenslacrosse.com.
The Scarlet Knights will host Manhattan on Tuesday, April 15, at 3:30 p.m.
on Yurcak Field. RU then hosts Boston College on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m.
