Feldman Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers women’s lacrosse sophomore Lyndsey Feldman (Ft. Myers, FL) was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, Monday, March 31. Feldman did not allow Marist to score during her 36 minutes in goal while the Scarlet Knights defeated the Red Foxes, 17-3, on Wednesday, March 26. She continued her defensive prowess into the game against No. 4 Georgetown on Sunday, March 30. Feldman held the Hoyas to only six goals, their lowest scoring output since the 2000 NCAA Championship Quarterfinals. Feldman finished the week with 13 saves and a save percentage of .684 through two games. The sophomore goalie is second in the latest BIG EAST statistics (March 31) for save percentage (.605), goals-against average (7.14) and saves (72). Feldman is the second Scarlet Knight this season to receive the player-of-the-week award, following junior Maggie Bopp (Lindenhurst, NY), who received the honor the week of March 10. Feldman also is the fourth Scarlet Knight to win the weekly award since the BIG EAST began sponsoring women’s lacrosse in 2001. Feldman and the Scarlet Knights (5-2, 0-1 BIG EAST) will head to the University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, April 1, for a 7 p.m. non-conference game. RU will head to Syracuse on Saturday, April 5, before hosting six consecutive home games on Yurcak Field.
