Rutgers Jumps to No. 17 in Inside Lacrosse Poll
Farewell and Poole Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. Rutgers women’s lacrosse moved a pair of spaces to the No. 17 slot in the Inside Lacrosse Women's DI Media Poll released Monday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights vaulted to a 3-0 season start with a pair of victories this week, defeating Villanova and Delaware.

    For the second straight week, a Scarlet Knight player was recognized for her individual performance on the field.  Senior midfielder Jamie Farewell (Medford Lakes, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Michelle Poole (Hackettstown, N.J.) were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced this evening.

    Farewell, on the week, notched a goal and three assists in Rutgers’ 2-0 week. She added four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Poole scored five times and added two assists for the Scarlet Knights last week. She tallied six draw controls and picked up four ground balls. Poole paces the team in points on the year with 11.

    The Scarlet Knights also advanced to No. 17 in the Laxpower College Computer Ratings.

    RU, off to its best start to a season since 1990, hosts No. 5 Princeton on Wed., March 7 at 7:00 p.m. The contest will be played on the RU Turf Field.
