PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers junior midfielder Katie Batiuk (Jackson, NJ) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after her three-goal performance against No. 1 Northwestern on Sunday, Feb. 26.
Despite a tough, 18-3 loss to the defending National Champion Wildcats, Batiuk extended her goal-scoring streak to 23 games dating back to the 2004 season. With her three goals against Northwestern in RU’s season-opener, the junior has now scored at least one goal in 23 consecutive games, dating back to her freshman season at Rutgers.
To go along with her three goals against Northwestern, Batiuk won three draw-controls, registered four shots and picked up two ground balls for RU. Batiuk was the 2005 BIG EAST Conference women’s lacrosse Midfielder of the Year and led the Scarlet Knights with 47 goals and 12 assists for 59 total points. She currently stands alone in 14th place on the all-time Rutgers scoring list and is one of 15 RU women’s lacrosse players to reach the 100-point plateau.
The Scarlet Knights are next in action when they travel to Hempstead, NY, to take on the No. 16 Pride of Hofstra University at James M. Shuart Stadium at 4:00 p.m..
