PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers University rising senior women’s lacrosse player Lisa Savage (Cortlandt Manor, NY) has been named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Academic Honor Roll, the organization announced on Thursday, July 1.
Savage was among 123 student-athletes representing 47 different institutions to be named to the organization’s honor roll. To be eligible for the honor roll a student-athlete must achieve at least a 3.5 GPA and is either a junior or a senior. Savage is the eighth Scarlet Knight to be named to the honor roll since it began in 1998. RU has had at least one representative on the list each year. Savage, a special education and psychology major, will be entering her senior year in the fall.
Savage, a two-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star, played in 14 games this past season, starting nine. She finished the season fifth on the team in scoring with 17 points on 10 goals and seven assists. Savage registered multiple points in five games in 2004. She scored the game-winning goal in Rutgers’ 9-6 victory over Connecticut. Savage scored a pair of goals each in three contests this season against UPenn, Old Dominion and the Huskies.
Rutgers ended the year 7-8 overall, finishing 3-3 in the BIG EAST Conference to place fourth in the league for the second-consecutive year. The Scarlet Knights played strong against several nationally-ranked teams this season, highlighted by a 7-6 victory over second-ranked Notre Dame on April 25.
