PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 22, 2014) – Senior attacker Megan Clements (Pennington, N.J.) earned the first weekly award of her career, as she was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Tuesday.
Clements had a career day against Cincinnati to lead RU to a pivotal 15-6 win and keep the Scarlet Knights in the hunt for a berth to the conference tournament. The senior recorded her second hat trick this season, exploding for six goals on six shots and adding three draw controls to lead Rutgers to its highest goal total of the year.
The six goals mark the most a Scarlet Knight has scored in a contest since Kristen Anderson accomplished the feat against St. Joseph’s during the 2008 season.
On April 19 against No. 18/19 Louisville, Clements finished with a goal and two draw controls.
Currently, Clements leads the squad in draw controls (27) and is second in both points (28) and goals (24).
Prior to the beginning of the season, Clements was one of four Scarlet Knights named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
The honor marks the seventh weekly award of the season for Rutgers. Redshirt junior midfielder Lauren Sbrilli (Martinsville, N.J.) has been named to the honor roll twice, while redshirt sophomore midfielder Kristin Kocher (Medford, N.J.) earned a spot on the honor roll on April 8.
Redshirt freshman Amanda Currell (Moorestown, N.J.) leads Rutgers with three weekly accolades, including two Defensive Player of the Week awards and a nod to the honor roll.
RU welcomes Temple to High Point Solutions Stadium at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 25 for Senior Day.
