Piscataway, N.J. (April 25, 2012) – Rutgers women’s lacrosse heads into its final regular season contest at No. 15/16 Georgetown, Saturday, April 28, at 1:06 p.m. The showdown will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network with Todd Harris and Sheehan Stanwick on the call. The winner will earn the No. 4 seed in the BIG EAST Championship.

The Scarlet Knights (9-6, 4-3) visit the nation’s capital after dropping their upset bid at No. 14 Loyola, 15-11, last weekend. Senior midfielder Ali Steinberg (Suffern, N.Y.) notched four points (three goals and one assist) in the loss to surpass 100 points for her career, while sophomore midfielder Lauren Sbrilli (Martinsville, N.J.) recorded her seventh hat trick of the season.

On the season, junior midfielder Stephanie Anderson (Wading River, N.Y.) paces RU with 39 goals. In the cage, junior Lily Kalata (Nesconset, N.Y.) owns a 9.80 goals against average with 105 saves for a .438 save percentage. The netminder ranks second in the BIG EAST in GAA, as well as fourth in saves, save percentage and ground balls.

The Hoyas (8-7, 4-3) maintain an 18-3 all-time series record against the Scarlet Knights, dating back to 1991. RU came up just short in 2011, falling 9-8 to then-No. 16 GU on Senior Day. The last RU win came in 1999, a 13-9 victory at home. Head coach Laura Brand-Sias was a senior on the squad, leading Rutgers to its first-ever national ranking and a NCAA Tournament appearance.

Georgetown dropped a 19-10 decision at No. 5/5 Maryland Wednesday night, despite three goals from Sophia Thomas. Thomas and Caroline Tarizan lead the Hoyas with 36 and 28 goals, respectively.

Sophomore goalkeeper Barb Black owns an 11.28 GAA and has stopped 91 shots through 15 starts. The netminder ranks fifth in the league in goals against average. Senior defender Kelly Barnes ranks third in the league in ground balls, tallying 37 in 2012.

Head coach Ricky Fried is in his eighth season at the helm of the women’s lacrosse program. Under Fried, Georgetown has earned six BIG EAST regular season titles, won the 2010 BIG EAST title and has advanced to the NCAA Tournament five times.
