PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 23, 2010) – Junior attackman Kory Kelly (Princeton, N.J.) of the Rutgers men’s lacrosse team was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced.
It marks the seventh time a Scarlet Knight has been named in the conference weekly honors this season.
Kelly scored a combined nine points (8 goals, 1 assist) against Marist and Army this past week. Against the Red Foxes, the junior scored a career-high six goals on nine shots and tallied an assist and caused turnover to lead Rutgers to a 10-9 victory. Kelly’s 7 points and six goals were the most by a BIG EAST player in a single game this season.
Against the Black Knights, the 6-foot-5 attackman scored RU’s first two goals and scooped up a ground ball.
Kelly leads the team in points (18) and goals (15) this season. His 2.50 goals and 3.0 points-per-game averages rank second and fourth in the conference, respectively.
Kelly and the rest of the Scarlet Knights open BIG EAST play at Notre Dame on Saturday in a noon game.
