PISCATAWAY, NJ – Freshman midfielder Chris Doctor (Skaneateles, NY) has been named the ECAC Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, the league office announced today.
Doctor had two goals and an assist for Rutgers in its 1-1 week. Against Manhattan, he scored a first-quarter goal to give the Scarlet Knights a 2-0 lead, as RU went on to win the game 10-6. Four days later at No. 6 Princeton, he assisted on a second-quarter goal by John Flanagan (Smithtown, NY) and scored a goal with 4:36 to play in the fourth quarter. The goal by Flanagan was featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter as the No. 10 play in its Top 10 Plays of the Day.
Doctor is fourth on the team in scoring this season with 15 points (six goals, nine assists). He has played in all nine games, making three starts.
The No. 15 Scarlet Knights return to action on Saturday, April 17, when they host fourth-ranked Syracuse at Yurcak Field. Face-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
