PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 3, 2014) – Rutgers men’s lacrosse senior D Nick Contino (Branchburg, N.J.) and junior M Rich Rambo (Abington, Pa.) have each been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday. The league honor is the first for each player.
Rambo had a career day at Stony Brook, posting personal game-highs in points (4), goals (3) and ground balls (4). He also tied his career-high with one assist and accounted for one-third of RU’s goals against the Seawolves.
Contino anchored the Rutgers defense, holding Stony Brook’s Brody Eastwood scoreless when he was matched up with him one-on-one. Eastwood scored just one goal after he entered the contest averaging 4.33 goals per game, which ranked second in the country.
The two join redshirt senior A Scott Klimchak (Clark, N.J.) and sophomore GK Kris Alleyne (New City, N.Y.), who also received conference weekly honors this season. Klimchak was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 24, while Alleyne was named to the weekly honor roll the same day.
The Scarlet Knights are back in action at Army on Tuesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. in West Point, N.Y.
