PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Feb. 24, 2014) – Rutgers men’s lacrosse redshirt senior A Scott Klimchak (Clark, N.J.) has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore GK Kris Alleyne (New City, N.Y.) earned recognition on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Klimchak is RU’s first player of the week honoree since he was named the league’s offensive recipient on April 2, 2012.
Klimchak, who leads the Scarlet Knights with 13 goals and 14 points this season, posted nine points (eight goals) in two games on the week. He started with a four-goal, one-assist performance in a 20-5 win at Wagner (Feb. 18), before notching four goals at Virginia (Feb. 22). The redshirt senior extended his goal-scoring streak to 20 games and leads the conference with 4.33 goals per game.
Alleyne made double-digit saves in each of RU’s games, posting 12 in the win against Wagner (Feb. 18) and 21 at Virginia (Feb. 22). Against the Seahawks, the sophomore allowed just five goals after facing 17 shots on goal for a .706 save percentage. Alleyne faced 39 shots on goal against the Cavaliers, making 21 saves. It marked the fourth time in his career that he recorded 20 or more saves in a game.
