PISCATAWAY, N.J. (August 13, 2013) – Rutgers men’s lacrosse will be represented by three former players in the 2013 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) playoffs. Will Mangan, Chris O’Dougherty and Justin Pennington will represent RU with the undefeated Denver Outlaws.
The Outlaws are set to square off with the fourth-seeded Charlotte Hounds in the semifinals on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. The winner faces either the Hamilton Nationals or the Chesapeake Bayhawks in the MLL Championship Game on Sunday, Aug. 25.
The Outlaws secured the No. 1 seed in the MLL Playoffs after posting a 14-0 record in the regular season.
Mangan, the 2012 Big East Midfielder of the Year, has seen action in 11 games, posting eight goals and three assists while also scooping up 11 ground balls. At Rutgers, Mangan was a USILA (United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association) Honorable Mention All-American (2012) and a 2012 North/South Game participant.
Pennington has played in all 14 games as a midfielder for the Outlaws, notching 10 goals and four assists, adding 39 ground balls. Pennington was a two-time USILA Honorable Mention All-American (2008, 2010) and played in the 2010 North/South Game.
O’Dougherty has made 11 appearances as a defenseman for Denver, collecting 23 ground balls. The 2009 Rutgers graduate was an USILA Honorable Mention All-American in 2007 and played in the 2009 North/South Game.
