PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Aug. 7, 2013) – The Rutgers men’s lacrosse team had 20 members selected to the 2012-13 Big East All-Academic Team, the conference announced Wednesday.
“I am very proud of these student-athletes for the commitment they have put in to their academics. They had great success in the classroom while in-season to achieve this prestigious honor,” said head coach Brian Brecht. “It is a full-time job being a student-athlete at this level and I am proud that our team is having the success in the classroom that we are having.”
The 20 members of last year’s squad that were selected include Ed Bartleson (Morristown, N.J.), Scott Bieda (Bridgewater, N.J.), Nick Contino (Branchburg, N.J.), Steve DiGiovanni (Cranford, N.J.), Brian Goss (Arlington Heights, Ill.), Dan Ingraldi (Clifton, N.J.), Matthew Klimchak (Clark, N.J.), Scott Klimchak (Clark, N.J.), Josh Matanin (Ellicott City, Md.), Joseph Nardella (Cazenovia, N.Y.), Peter Noto (Webster, N.Y.), Andrew Parrilla (Wyckoff, N.J.), Rich Rambo (Glendale, Pa.), Ben Schwing (Medford, N.J.), Steve Shemesh (Hillsborough, N.J.), Zack Sikora (Clifton, Va.), Campbell Sode (Dallas, Texas), Joseph Stottler (Wantagh, N.Y.), Anthony Terranova (Flemington, N.J.) and Christopher Zybrick (Kinnelon, N.J.).
To be named to the all-academic team, a nominee must have competed in a Big East-sponsored sport, attained a minimum GPA of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
