PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 11, 2013) – Rutgers men’s lacrosse junior A Scott Klimchak (Clark, N.J.) and sophomore FO Joseph Nardella (Cazenovia, N.Y.) were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday. It was Nardella’s first time on the Weekly Honor Roll this season and Klimchak’s second.
In two games, Klimchak tallied five goals and two assists. He started off the week by leading the team with four goals against Holy Cross (March 5), his fourth-straight game with four or more points this season. The attackman followed that up with a one goal, two assist game against Army (March 9).
Nardella continued his strong season in the faceoff circle. He won 15 of 21 against Holy Cross (March 5) for a mark of .714 percent, his second time over .700 this season. Against the Crusaders, he also totaled nine groundballs. The sophomore followed that up with a 14-21 (.666 percent) performance against Army (March 9), his seventh time with 13 or more faceoffs won in as many games in 2013. He also totaled 10 groundballs against the Black Knights, his second double-digit performance in that category this season. He posted a .690 faceoff percentage between the two games.
The two join A Nick DePaolera (Kinnelon, N.J.) as the three Rutgers players to be named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this season, as DePaolera was recognized on Feb. 18 for his opening week performance. Klimchak’s first Honor Roll came on Feb. 25.
The Scarlet Knights begin BIG EAST play on the road next weekend at St. John’s. Game time is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 at DaSilva Memorial Field.
