PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Jan. 28, 2013) – Sophomore midfielder Brian Goss (Arlington Heights, Ill.) has been named the fourth and final captain for the 2013 season, second-year head coach Brian Brecht announced Monday. Goss joins senior defenseman Edward Bartleson (Morristown, N.J.), junior defenseman Nicholas Contino (Branchburg, N.J.) and redshirt junior midfielder Anthony Terranova (Flemington, N.J.) as a team captain for the season.
“As we head through the preseason and prepare for the upcoming spring, it was obvious to the coaching staff that Brian has become a leader both on and off the field that complimented Bartleson, Contino and Terranova as captains,” said Brecht. “We are excited to have Brian become one of our leaders as we get ready to start the 2013 season.”
In 2012, Goss finished his first Rutgers season as the only freshman to start all 15 games. He totaled 20 points on 11 goals and nine assists. The midfielder collected 16 groundballs on the year and was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on April 16, 2012.
