  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Jan. 24, 2013) – Former Rutgers men’s lacrosse standout Richard Prakopcyk will be inducted into the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame (NJLHF) as a member of the 2013 class on Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Mercer Oaks Country Club in Princeton Junction, N.J.

Prakopcyk was a four-year letterwinner for the Scarlet Knights from 1975-78. The Hunterdon Central High School graduate was awarded the Robert Collett Award at Rutgers in 1978, given to the member of the varsity lacrosse team who displays the best mental and physical spirit. He was also a team captain in 1978.

Since playing for the Scarlet Knights, Prakopcyk has coached for the Bethlehem (N.J.) Youth Warriors since 1999 and has helped the North Hunterdon High School lacrosse teams during winter and summer offseason programs since 2003. He was named the New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse League Pitt Division Man of the Year in 2005.

The NJLHF is a joint venture between the North Jersey and South Jersey chapters of US Lacrosse, the governing body of the sport. Prakopcyk joins five others who will also be inducted on Sunday.
