  • TURKU, Finland (July 20, 2012) – Rutgers men’s lacrosse incoming freshman Eric Cooley has had an interesting summer in his sport. The Yorktown, N.Y., product stars for Finland’s U-19 team in defense and has helped the squad to an appearance in the U-19 World Lacrosse Championship game against Germany. The action takes place today at the Yläkenttä venue.

The stout defender has appeared in all three games for the Finnish group so far in the tournament.

Cooley finished his high school career with recognition to New York’s All-Section 1 Team and selection as a First Team All-Journal News All-Star. He was also a standout offensive lineman and defensive tackle on the gridiron for Yorktown.

The new Scarlet Knight was interviewed by the World Lacrosse Championship after his team’s match against Australia. Click here
