PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 16, 2012) – Freshman midfielder Brian Goss (Arlington, N.J.) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced by the conference office on Monday. Goss recorded a total of four points in games at No. 15 Princeton (April 10) and against No. 13 Syracuse (April 14), scoring three goals and adding one assist.

First-year head coach Brian Brecht has been impressed with Goss’ efforts throughout the 2012 season.

“I’m very happy for Brian to earn this conference honor, as he has put in a lot of work on his own outside of practice time,” Brecht said. “It’s hard to compete at this level as a freshman. You have to give Brian a lot of credit. Game in and game out this season, he has helped support seniors Will Mangan and Mike Diehl in the midfield. Brian has gained a lot of experience for the future.”

A starter in all 13 games this season, Goss has totaled 18 points from 10 goals and eight assists. He has also scooped 14 ground balls. Against the Tigers, Goss netted one goal. He then scored a team-leading three points (two goals, one assist) against the Orange at the ESPNU Warrior Classic in Charlotte, N.C.

The league honor is the first of Goss’ career and the seventh time a Scarlet Knight has been recognized this season.

Rutgers returns home for Senior Night on Saturday, April 21, taking on Michigan at Yurcak Field.
