May-23-07 Checcio Selected to Play in North-South All-Star Game
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Former Rutgers men's lacrosse player Colin Checcio (Wayne, Pa.) was selected to play for the North Team in the annual USILA North-South Senior All-Star Game. The game will take place on Friday, May 25, at Calvert Hall in Baltimore, Md., in conjunction with the NCAA Final Four.

May-21-07 Two Rutgers Lacrosse Recruits Invited to Tryout for U.S. Under-19 Team
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Two incoming men's lacrosse recruits have been invited to try out for the U.S. Under-19 Men's Lacrosse National Team, head coach Jim Stagnitta has announced. Attackman Kory Kelly and midfielder Brian Shemesh will participate in the tryout, held from July 12-15 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

May-08-07 Three Scarlet Knights Earn All-ECAC Honors
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Three Rutgers men's lacrosse players earned All-ECAC accolades, the conference announced today, highlighted by Justin Pennington's (Flemington, N.J.) Rookie of the Year honor. Senior attackman Colin Checcio (Wayne, Pa.) was named to the ECAC first team, while sophomore defender Chris O'Dougherty (Kinnelon, N.J.) earned a spot on the league's second team.

May-05-07 Rutgers Holds Off UMass for 9-8 Victory in Season Finale
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's lacrosse team (7-6, 4-3) closed out its season with a 9-8 win over ECAC opponent UMass (7-7, 4-3) on an afternoon in which the team recognized its five graduating seniors prior to the start of the game. Five different Scarlet Knights scored in the game, led by senior Matt Gaines' (Abingdon, Md.) hat trick. With the win, Rutgers finishes the season with a winning record at 7-6, including a 4-3 mark in conference play.

May-04-07 Rutgers to Host UMass in Final Regular-Season Game
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men's lacrosse team (6-6, 3-3) will close out the 2007 regular season when it hosts ECAC opponent UMass (7-6, 4-2) on Saturday, May 5, at 1:00 p.m. Prior to the start of the game, the Scarlet Knights will hold a ceremony to honor the five seniors on the roster: Josh Ashcraft (Carthage, N.Y.), Colin Checcio (Wayne, Pa.), Chris Doctor (Skaneateles, N.Y.), Matt Gaines (Abingdon, Md.) and volunteer assistant coach Zach Trent.

May-02-07 Checcio Leads Rutgers Past Army
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Senior Colin Checcio (Wayne, Pa.) scored four goals, including the game-winner with six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, to help guide the Rutgers men's lacrosse team (6-6) to a 10-9 win over Army (6-8) Wednesday night at Yurcak Field.

April-28-07 Scarlet Knights Drop 12-8 Decision to No. 4 Georgetown
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior Matt Gaines (Abingdon, Md.) tied his season-high with four goals but it was not enough to overcome No. 4 Georgetown as the Rutgers men's lacrosse team (5-6, 3-4) fell to the fourth-ranked Hoyas, 12-8. RU at one point held a three-goal lead, but Georgetown's offense mounted a comeback for the eventual win.

April-24-07 Olin, Pennington Earn Weekly ECAC Honors
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Freshman goalie Bill Olin (Horseheads, N.Y.) was named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week and teammate Justin Pennington (Flemington, N.J.) was named the conference's Rookie of the Week following the Scarlet Knights' (5-5, 3-2) 8-7 double-overtime win against conference rival Penn State on April 22.

April-22-07 Pennington Leads Scarlet Knights Past Penn State in Double-Overtime
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – A goal in double-overtime by freshman Justin Pennington (Flemington, N.J.) gave the Rutgers men's lacrosse team (5-5, 3-2) an 8-7 win over ECAC rival Penn State (4-7, 3-3) on Sunday afternoon in Piscataway. With the win, the Friendship Cup, established 11 seasons ago and awarded to the winner of the annual Rutgers-Penn State game, returns to 'the banks' for the first time since 2004 and for just the second time in team history.

April-20-07 Scarlet Knights Welcome Penn State for Conference Match-Up
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men's lacrosse team (4-5, 2-2) will host ECAC opponent Penn State (4-6, 3-2) on Sunday, April 22, at 12:00 p.m. A win against the Nittany Lions would even RU's overall record at 5-5 and give the team a winning mark in conference play at 3-2. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 22-9 loss at No. 17/18 Syracuse on April 15.
