March 17, 2003 Powless Named ECAC Offensive Player of the Week
PISCATAWAY, NJ - Junior Delby Powless (Hagersville, Ontario), a member of the Rutgers men’s lacrosse team, has been named ECAC Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

March 15, 2003 Powless' Seven Goals Lead #13 Rutgers in Upset at #10 Navy, 13-8
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Junior Delby Powless (Hagersville, Ontario) scored seven goals and junior Matt Apel (Bridgewater, NJ) dished out four assists to lead the No. 13 Rutgers men’s lacrosse team to a 13-8 victory at No. 10 Navy (3-2, 0-2 ECAC) today in Annapolis, MD. It was Rutgers’ first win against a top-10 team since the 2001 season, when the Scarlet Knights defeated No. 10 UMBC, 10-7. Rutgers (6-0, 1-0 ECAC) is now off to the third-best start in school history. The 1955 team owns the best start in the history of the program, winning eight consecutive games to start its season. The 1953 team started its season 7-0 before suffering its first loss. The win was also Rutgers’ first against Navy since 1991.

March 8, 2003 Rutgers Defeats Albany 14-7 for Fifth-Straight Win
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers men’s lacrosse team improved to 5-0 for the first time since the 1956 season with a 14-7 victory over Albany (1-2) today at the Rutgers Astroturf Field. Seniors Ken Springer (Ridgewood, NJ) and Jeff Duca (Fair Lawn, NJ) led the way with four goals apiece, while sophomore Leif Blomquist (Long Beach, NY) dished out a career high four assists.

March 5, 2003 Rutgers Rolls Past St. Joseph's 15-4
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers men’s lacrosse team defeated Saint Joseph’s (0-4) tonight at the Rutgers Astroturf Field, 15-4, to move to 4-0 for the first time since the 1975 season. The Scarlet Knights used a 12-goal run during parts of the first, second and third quarters, while shutting the Hawks out for 39:09, to gain the victory.

March 1, 2003 Rutgers Remains Unbeaten With 3-0 Win Over Delaware
PISCATAWAY, NJ – A six goal first quarter propelled the Rutgers men’s lacrosse team (3-0) to an 11-6 victory over Delaware (1-2) today at the Rutgers Astroturf Field. This marks the first time since the 1984 season that Rutgers has started a season with three consecutive victories.

February 26, 2003 Rutgers Defeats Manhattan 7-3
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers men’s lacrosse team (2-0) held Manhattan scoreless for a 34:15 span leading to a 7-3 victory over the Jaspers today at the Rutgers Turf Field. With the win, Rutgers improves to 2-0 on the season, while Manhattan falls to 1-2. The three goals allowed by RU were the fewest since defeating Albany 19-2 on April 7, 2001.

February 23, 2003 Rutgers Upsets #13 Towson in Season Opener 10-9
TOWSON, MD – Junior transfer Delby Powless (Hagersville, Ontario) scored a goal off a pass from senior co-captain Ken Springer (Ridgewood, NJ) 56 seconds into overtime to give Rutgers (1-0) a 10-9 victory against No. 13 Towson (0-1) in the season opener for both teams. Powless, playing in his first game as a Scarlet Knight, and Springer both tallied three goals in the contest. Rutgers never trailed in the game.

November 26, 2002 RU Men's Lacrosse Announces Recruiting Class
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Seven student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to play men's lacrosse at Rutgers University for head coach Jim Stagnitta in 2003-2004, it was announced today.
