PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women’s gymnastics team participated in the Heel to Heal Walk this past Sunday in New Brunswick. The event raised funds for Embrace Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization formerly known as the Institute for Children with Cancer and Blood Disorders located in New Brunswick to help provide funding for a variety of services for patients and families while continuing to support research initiatives.
The gymnastics team led the participants in support as they started the walk and raised $1,850 for the Embrace Kids Foundation. The Scarlet Knights, who have participated in the event the past three years, take part in several community service initiatives throughout the year.
The program will open its season Jan. 9, 2010 against New Hampshire at the Livingston Gymnasium.
