PISCATAWAY, NJ - Freshman Latara Northcutt (Snellville, GA), has been named the EAGL Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced today.
Rutgers (11-7, 1-4 EAGL) competed against Cornell and Eastern Michigan on Saturday, March 4, at Teagle Hall in Ithaca, NY. The Scarlet Knights scored 191.900 points to place second just behind Eastern Michigan with 193.550, and ahead of Cornell, which scored 189.175 points.
Northcutt put together a sterling performance, as she took first place in the vault and uneven bar competitions for the second consecutive week. Northcutt won the vault title with a season-high 9.825 and also tied with fellow Scarlet Knight freshman Jessica Haddaway (Baltimore, MD) for first on the bars, each posting season highs of 9.825.
One of Rutgers’ top all-arounders, Northcutt wrapped up competition, placing third in the all-around with a combined score of 38.575 points.
The Scarlet Knights will return to action on Saturday, March 11, when they travel to Towson, MD, to take on Towson University at 7:00 p.m. Rutgers previously topped the Tigers in its final home meet of the season on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Livingston Recreation Center.
