STATE COLLEGE, PA - The Rutgers University gymnastics team (6-4, 1-2 EAGL) finished third with 190.550 points at the Penn State quad meet on Friday, Feb. 10, in State College, PA. Also competing at the quad meet was Nebraska and Yale.
Penn State won the meet with 196.025 points, while Nebraska finished second with 195.475, followed by Rutgers in third and Yale in fourth (190.200).
Freshman Latara Northcutt (Snellville, GA) finished seventh in the all-around with 38.425 points followed by juniors Lorena Johnson (Lilburn, GA) in eighth (38.325) and Beth Fittery (Denver, PA) in ninth with 37.950 points.
Leading RU in the vault was Johnson, who finished 14th with a 9.675. Fittery and Northcutt also tied for 15th with a 9.600 apiece.
Northcutt tied for eighth place on the uneven bars with a team-high 9.650, while senior Gina Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ) was the high scorer on the balance beam, tying for seventh with a 9.725. Northcutt also posted a ninth-place finish on the beam with a 9.675 and Johnson took 10th, scoring a 9.650.
Fittery recorded the Scarlet Knights’ highest score in the floor exercise with a 9.625 to finish in 16th place.
Rutgers will play its final meet of a three-meet road trip on Friday, Feb. 17, against EAGL member Maryland at 7:00 p.m.
