HARRISONBURG, VA - The Rutgers gymnastics team (2-1, 1-1 EAGL) claimed a convincing victory over James Madison University 190.025-181.000 on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Sinclair Gymnasium.
The Scarlet Knights won all four events, claiming the top-six places in the vault and uneven bars as well as the first three spots on the balance beam.
Freshman Latara Northcutt (Snellville, GA) led Rutgers in the vault, finishing in first place with a 9.600, followed by senior Erin Lynch (Mullica Hill, NJ) in second with a 9.575, while junior Lorena Johnson (Lilburn, GA) and senior Jamye Shelton (Griffin, GA) tied for third with a 9.525.
Northcutt was also the top performer on the uneven bars, winning the competition with a 9.550. Junior All-American Beth Fittery (Denver, PA) finished second with a 9.450 and senior Lauren Sisler (Newport, VA) took third place with a score of 9.375.
On the balance beam, senior Gina Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ) finished first with a 9.725, followed by Johnson, who placed second with a 9.650 and sophomore Tiffany Schramm (Orange County, CA) took third (9.550).
Fittery helped propel Rutgers to its victory in the floor exercise with a 9.725, while Lynch placed third with a 9.550 and Sisler finished fourth with a 9.525.
