Gymnastics Takes Second at Maryland Quad Meet

  • COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Rutgers gymnastics team (9-3, 1-3 EAGL) earned a second place finish in a quad meet between Maryland, Temple and Brockport State on Friday, Feb. 11, in College Park, MD.

    The Scarlet Knights scored 189.550 points, finishing behind Maryland in first place with 192.475 points and ahead of Temple in third (188.950) and Brockport State in fourth (180.800).

    Leading RU was freshman Stephanie Pannick (Archbald, PA), who tied for first place in the floor exercise with a season-best 9.750 performance. Senior Nicci Bradder (Dover, NH) finished in third place with a season-high score of 9.725. On the uneven bars, the Scarlet Knights were led by sophomore Lorena Johnson (Lilburn, GA), who finished tied for second place with a score of 9.650.

    On the balance beam, junior Gina Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ) and sophomore Casey Santangelo (Cherry Hill, NJ) scored a 9.475 to finish tied for seventh place and on the vault, Bradder tied for sixth place with a score of 9.575. Bradder also took second place in the all-around with 37.675 combined points.

    The Scarlet Knights return to action on Saturday, Feb. 19, when they travel to Chapel Hill, NC, to face the North Carolina Tar Heels in a dual meet at 12:30 p.m.
