  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Aug. 15, 2012) – Eleven Rutgers gymnasts were named individual Scholastic All-America award winners by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) for the 2011-12 season.

Student-athletes were recognized for compiling a year-long or cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher. Across all three NCAA divisions, 471 student-athletes were honored. The Scarlet Knights compiled a team GPA of 3.1015.

“We, as a gymnastics staff, are very proud of the 11 women who achieved such a great honor,” said head coach Louis Levine. “Academics are the top priority of our program and we will continue to push all of our athletes to excel in the classroom. Hopefully next year we can add even more members of the team to this prestigious academic award list.”

Senior graduate Nicole Schwartz (4.0, Exercise Science and Sport Studies) led the squad as one of 60 honorees with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Classmate Melanie Brother held a 3.94 GPA in English, while Emma-Rose Trentacosti, a rising senior, followed with a 3.92 in American Studies.

Former Scarlet Knights Alexandra Belvis (3.87, Art) and Madeline Meyer (3.73, Exercise Science and Sport Studies) were also named Scholastic All-America award winners.
