MAMARONECK, N.Y. – The Rutgers women's golf team shot a three-round 1068 (358-366-344) to finish 11th at the Roar-ee Invitational, played April 11-12 at the Hampshire Country Club. Freshman Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) carded a 245 (85-80-80) to finish 12th, while pacing the Scarlet Knights for the third time in as many events this spring season.
Junior Lauren Huhnerkoch (Burnsville, Minn.) turned-in a strong performance, shooting a 260 (88-93-79) to finish tied for 40th on the par 71, 5,833-yard course. Senior Jen Rudy (Berlin, Conn.), freshman Daley Owens (Taylorsville, Utah) and junior Stephanie Yastrub (Lake Grove, N.Y.) comprised the rest of the RU scorecard. Rudy concluded the event in 66th place with a 277 (88-97-92) total, while Owens and Yastrub placed tied for 70th (97-96-93=286) and 74th (99-101-93=293), respectively.
Fourteen teams and 75 student-athletes competed in the second annual tournament.
Brigham Young captured the team crown with a 942 total, 23 strokes ahead of second place Harvard. Yale placed in the show position with a 988. Natalia Jimenez of BYU won the individual title, shooting 77-76-76=229, five strokes ahead of her teammate, J. Wightman Erekson (82-76-75=233). Susannah Aboff of Princeton finished third (81-77-76=234).
The Scarlet Knights, under the leadership of head coach Maura Ballard, return to the links for the BIG EAST Championships, to be played April 20-22 in Cincinnati, Ohio. RESULTS
