Crystal River, Fla. - The Rutgers women's golf team shot a three-round 1030 (351-339-340) to finish in 11th place at the Cincinnati Spring Invitational, played March 28-29 at Plantation Inn Golf Course. Freshman Jeanne Waters (West Sayville, N.Y.) carded a 240 (78-80-82) to finish tied for 28th place, while pacing the Scarlet Knights in their first event of the spring season.
Junior Lauren Huhnerkoch (Burnsville, Minn.) also performed well , shooting a 249 (86-81-82) to finish 54thon the par 72, 6,002-yard course. Senior Jen Rudy (Berlin, Conn.), freshman Daley Owens (Taylorsville, Utah) and junior Stephanie Yastrub (Lake Grove, N.Y.) comprised the rest of the RU scorecard. Rudy concluded the event in 64th place with a 268 (94-86-88) total, while Owens and Yastrub placed 67th (95-92-88=275) and 68th (93-92-92=277), respectively.
Twelve teams and 72 student-athletes competed in the tournament. Florida Atlantic captured the team crown with a 910 effort, nine strokes better than second place Stetson. Florida International finished in the show position with a 920 total.
The Scarlet Knights, under the leadership of head coach Maura Ballard, waste little time returning to the links. They tee off again at the Georgetown Invitational, played March 31-April 1 in Washington, D.C. RESULTS
