HARRISONBURG, VA - The Rutgers University women’s golf team shot an opening round 344 and dropped 12 strokes to 332 on Sunday to finish in 13th-place at the 14-team, rain-shortened, Bonnie Hoover Invitational. The Scarlet Knights fired a combined 676 for the tournament.
Freshman Lauren Huhnerkoch (Burnsville, MN) continued her solid spring with a 163 combined score and a tie for 36th-place overall. Huhnerkoch shot an opening round 77 and stumbled a bit with an 86 on day two. She was the only Scarlet Knight who did not shave strokes off of her card the second time around the course.
Junior Lauren Braswell (Basking Ridge, NJ) finished in a tie for 51st- place after carding a two-round score of 167. Braswell opened play with a 90 on day one, but she rebounded and turned in a 77 for round two.
Freshman Kristin Hrycko (Toronto, Ontario) fired a round one 87 and returned to card an 84 on day two for a combined score of 171. Junior Ashley Fowler (Scottsdale, AZ) carded a combined score of 175 after shooting a 90 on day one and an 85 on day two.
The Scarlet Knights will be back in action on April 24-25 when they take part in the BIG EAST Conference Championships in Dade City, FL.
