WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Rutgers University women’s golf team continued its spring season on April 1-2 with a 14th-place showing at the Georgetown Hoya Women’s Golf Invitational. The Scarlet Knights carded a combined 697 (349-348) and placed three golfers in the top-60.
Rutgers junior Ashley Fowler (Scottsdale, AZ) was RU’s top finisher, carding a combined 171 (88-83) over the two-day event and finishing in a tie for 53rd-place overall. Junior Lauren Braswell (Basking Ridge, NJ) closed out her participation by turning in a combined 172 (84-88), good for a tie of 55th-place overall.
Freshman Lauren Huhnerkoch (Burnsville, MN), who was one of Rutgers’ strongest golfers throughout the fall season of 2005, finished in a tie of 57th-place after shooting an 86 on Saturday and an 87 on Sunday.
Freshman Kristin Hrycko (Toronto, Ontario) and sophomore Jen Rudy (Berlin, CT) each fired 182 over the two days and finished in a tie with Penn’s Nicole Kouch for 69th overall.
The Scarlet Knights will be back in action on April 8-9 when they travel to Harrisonburg, VA to take part in the James Madison Lady Dukes Invitational.
