PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers University women's golf team carded a 663 (328-335) to finish sixth out of 16 teams in the 26th annual Rutgers Women's Golf Invitational on Saturday. The two-day event, held at the 5,847-yard, par-72 Rutgers University Golf Course, wrapped up on Saturday with St. John's taking home the team championship with a 612 (307-305). Jaclyn Sanders of St. John's took home the individual crown with a four-over-par 148 (76-72).
Sophomore Lauren Braswell (Basking Ridge, NJ) led the Scarlet Knights with a 163 (81-82) in the two-round tournament to finish tied for 23rd overall. Senior Mary Stewart (Scottsdale, AZ) also fired an 82 in Saturday's final round to finish one stroke behind Braswell with a 164 (82-82) to tie for 26th.
Sophomore Ashley Fowler (Scottsdale, AZ) had identical rounds of 83 to
finish tied for 30th with a 166. Senior Katie Kennedy (Annandale, NJ) shot
170 (82-88) to finish tied for 37th, while senior Noel Picca (Irving, TX) fired a 174 (86-88) to tie for 48th in the 84-member tournament.
Sophomore Monica Coe (Mays Landing, NJ) and freshman Jen Rudy (Berlin, CT) of the Scarlet Knights competed individually. Coe ended the tournament 65th overall with a 182 (95-87), while Rudy finished 66th with a 184 (95-89).
The Rutgers Invitational marked the final event for the Scarlet Knights' fall season. RU will open the spring season in Washington, D.C. at the Georgetown Invitational, March 19-20, 2005. RESULTS
