NOTRE DAME, IN — The Rutgers women’s golf team opened the 2004 fall season with a 15th-place finish at the Notre Dame Invitational over the Labor Day weekend. The Scarlet Knights shot a 986 (330-328-328) for the three-round tournament held at the 6,003-yeard, par-72 Warren Golf Course.
Iowa State University won the team championship, carding a 902 (304-294-304) for the two-day event, while Iowa State’s Louise Kenney took the individual crown with an even-par 216 (71-73-72).
Senior Mary Stewart (Scottsdale, AZ) paced RU with a 245 (87-79-79) for the event to tie for 52nd overall. Senior Kathleen Kennedy (Annandale, NJ) was one stroke behind her teammate, carding a 246 (83-84-79) to tie for 59th place.
Sophomore Ashley Fowler (Scottsdale, NJ) fired a 248 (76-84-88) to tie for 64th, while fellow sophomore Lauren Braswell (Basking Ridge, NJ) shot a 255 (92-81-82) to finish in a tie for 76th place. Senior Noel Picca (Irving, TX) rounded out the Scarlet Knight field with a 266 (84-90-92) to place 85th.
Next up for the Scarlet Knights is a trip to Hanover, NH, for the Dartmouth Invitational, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18-19.
