LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL – Rutgers women’s golf is in 13th place with a 649 (323-326) team score after the opening two rounds of the Central District Invitational, played Monday at the par 72, 6,325-yard Cypress Links Course at Lakewood Ranch. Freshman Taylor Clark (Sterling Heights, Mich.) paced the Scarlet Knights on day one, carding a 155 (78-77) to enter day two tied for 61st in the 80-player field.
Sophomore Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.) is also among the top 70 competitors. She is 70th with a 162 (80-82) total.
Freshman Maddy Gedeon (Roseville, Calif.) and sophomores Jackie Mullens (Brookside, N.J.) and Gabrielle Sacheli (Pittsford, N.Y.) comprise the rest of the Scarlet scorecard. Gedeon (83-85) and Mullens (86-82) are both tied for 77th with 168 totals, while Sacheli is 80th with a 173 (82-91).
No. 18 UCF leads the tournament with a 15-under-par 561 (280-281), followed by No. 15 Vanderbilt (276-287=563). UCF's Fanny Cnops sits atop the individual leaderboard at 10-under-par (68-66=134), while Vanderbilt's Simin Feng (67-69=136) and Louisville's Laura Restrepo (67-70=137) are in second and third place, respectively.
The third and final round of the Central District Invitational, hosted by Michigan State, is set for Tuesday with a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. Live scoring will be available at www.BirdieFire.com.
