PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 21, 2012) – California standout Maddy Gedeon (Roseville, Calif.) has signed a national letter of intent to attend Rutgers University and compete in women’s golf. Gedeon brings an impressive resume with her to Piscataway, including multiple tournament victories, three City MVP awards and a cumulative 4.0 grade point average.
"We are very excited about signing Maddy Gedeon,” said Rutgers head women’s golf coach Maura Ballard. “She is a very competitive tournament player, an honors student, and an all around great kid. I can't wait to see the positive impact she has on our team."
The Oakmont High School product is ranked No. 26 in the state of California among junior golf recruits, boasting a 1.97 scoring differential and four top-10 tournament finishes in 11 tries.
Gedeon won a key junior outing on April 15, shooting an 80-71 in JNTC-Spring Series IV to take home the title. Two weeks later on April 29, Gedeon wrapped up competition at the AJGA-Preseason Junior at Mira Vista, finishing second in a field of 30 with scores of 75-78. She competed in the AJGA Stonehenge Junior Open from July 30-Aug. 1, shooting a 72-70-75 to secure the victory.
In her time at Oakmont, Gedeon compiled numerous accolades. She was named all-league and Scholar Athlete of the Year four years in a row, and became the first Oakmont golfer to qualify for state competition. Gedeon was also named team MVP four years in a row and league MVP three times.
