Bethlehem, Pa. – The Rutgers women’s golf team leads the eight-team Lehigh Invitational with a 301 total after the event’s opening round, played Saturday on the Grace Course at the Saucon Valley Country Club. Sophomore Kortnie Maxoutopoulis (Pleasanton, Calif.) is atop the leader board with an even par 72 in the 45-player field.
Senior Brittany Weddell (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) and freshman Samantha Moyal (Alameda, Calif.) also performed well on the 6,005-yard course. Weddell is tied for third with a 74 and Moyal is tied for fifth with a 75.
Freshman Melanie Chambers (Henderson, Nev.) and senior Karen Cash (Allendale, N.J.) comprise the rest of the team scorecard. Chambers is tied for 25th with an 80, while Cash is 40th with an 86.
Seton Hall is in second place, four strokes behind the Scarlet Knights with a 305.
The second and final round tees-off Sunday morning with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
