MASHPEE, MA – The Rutgers women’s golf team concluded its fall season competition with an eighth place finish at the Harvard Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 26. The Scarlet Knights carded a 715 (37-345) for the two-day tournament, held at the 5,815-yard, par-72 New Seabury/Dunes golf course.
Yale won the event with a team score of 660 (342-318), while Lauren Ressler of the Bulldogs took individual first place honors with a score of 159 (80-79).
Junior Mary Stewart (Scottsdale, AZ) led the Scarlet Knights, tying for 23rd place overall with an aggregate score of 177 (92-85). The Harvard Invitational is the third tournament Stewart has led RU in scoring in this season. She previously paced Rutgers at both the Dartmouth and Notre Dame Invitationals.
Senior Amanda Lennox (Narragansett, RI) registered a score of 179 (93-86) for two rounds to tie for 27th. Freshmen Lauren Braswell (Basking Ridge, NJ) and Ashley Fowler (Scottsdale, AZ) finished right behind Lennox with a 180 and 181 respectively. Braswell carded rounds of 96 and 84, while Fowler shot a 91 on Saturday, finishing up with a 90 on Sunday. Junior Katie Kennedy (Annandale, NJ) fired a 184 (94-90) for the event to tie for 34th out of 50 participants.
Rutgers will open its spring season in Washington, DC, at the Georgetown Invitational on March 20-21, 2004.
