BETHPAGE, NY - The Rutgers men’s golf team placed fourth out of 12 teams at The McLaughlin, with a 12-over par 852 (285-278-289). The tournament was hosted by St. John’s University at the 6,709-yard, par-70 Bethpage Red Course in Bethpage, NY on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26-27.
The Scarlet Knights were led by senior Brian Whitman (Blairstown, NJ) who carded a one-over-par 211 (71-72-68) to finish seventh in the three round-tournament. Junior Brent Pittman (Montvale, NJ), coming off of his victory last weekend at the James Madison Invitational, finished with a four-over-par 214 (73-68-73) and tied for 13th with teammate junior Jason Bataille (South Plainfield, NJ) who shot 69-68-77.
Sophomore Mike Kosup (Flemington, NJ) and junior Erick Morales (Bayamon, NJ) tied for 34th overall with 10-over-par 220. Kosup shot 72-73-75, while Morales shot 77-70-73.
Maryland finished first with a three-under-par 837 (280, 277, 280), and was led by tournament champion Dan McDonald who fired a seven-under-par 203 (68-70-65).
RU returns to action next weekend when it travels to the Temple Invitational in Philadelphia, PA, on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4.
