Participants at the weekend tournament held at the, par 71 Lakeview Golf Course in Harrisonburg, VA, competed for 54 holes with 36 holes contested on Saturday. Penn State won the tournament, carding a combined score of 820 (280-269-271). The tournament’s individual winner was Jim Fuller of Penn State, who finished 16 under par with a 54-hole score of 197 (66-66-65).
Freshman Michael Kosup (Flemington, NJ) paced the way for the Scarlet Knights, tying for 25th place, shooting three over par for the tournament with a 54-hole score of 216 (72-20-74). Finishing one stroke behind, Sophomore Brian Whitman (Blairstown, NJ) tied for 29th place. He registered a three-round score of 217 (75-72-20), just four over par for the tournament. Senior Michael Michel (Attleboro, MA) finished with a three-round total of 220 (73-73-74), placing him in a tie for 43rd place in the weekend tournament.
Sophomore Erick Morales (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) (76-69-76) and junior Brent Pittman (Montvale, NJ) (73-73-75) carded a 221 to finish in a tie for 52nd place out of 90 competitors.
The men return to action next Fri.-Sat., Sept. 27-28, traveling to Bethpage, NY to compete at the St. John’s Walter McLaughlin Tournament.
