PISCATAWAY, NJ -- Junior Seth Hirschhorn (Willingboro, NJ) earned individual honors, finishing second at the Rutgers Men’s Golf Invitational after shooting a sizzling 210 over three rounds (66-74-70). The Scarlet Knights finished third overall (863, +11) in their season opening tournament, which concluded on Saturday at the Rutgers Golf Course.

Columbia took first place team honors finishing the course at even-par for the three rounds (852). The Lions were -6 as a team heading into the final round but struggled on the last 18 holes and just nipped runner-up St. John’s, which finished with a score of 856 as a team.

Joe McLister earned first place honors for the Delaware Blue Hens after firing a 208 for the tournament (72-67-69).

Hirschhorn paced the Scarlet Knights throughout the tournament and was one of three Scarlet Knight players to finish in the top-20. Senior co-captain Jason Bataille (South Plainfield, NJ) finished in a tie for fifth overall after he shot a 212 (71-70-71). Rounding out the top-20 finishers for the Scarlet Knights was the other captain, Michael Kosup (Flemington, NJ), who rebounded after shooting two rounds of 73 on Friday. Kosup finished strong, tallying a 72 on the final day to round out his tournament with a 218 (73-73-72).

Scarlet Knight freshman Isaac Lim (Piscataway, NJ), who was playing out of the number one spot for RU, struggled during the first round, tallying a 78; however, Lim recovered and fired a 72 and 73 respectively over the final two rounds of the invitational, winding up with a 223 overall.

The Scarlet Knights will be back in action on Monday, Sept. 19 and 20, when they travel to Maryland to play in the Towson Invitational.
