Rutgers in 23rd Entering Final Round of NCAA Men's Golf East Regionals
Pittman Tied For 19th Overall With Second-Straight Sub-par Round

KINGSTON SPRINGS, TN – The Rutgers men’s golf team moved to 23rd place with a second-round score of 290 (+6) on Friday at the NCAA East Regional in Kingston Springs, TN, near Nashville. The Scarlet Knights own a two-round score of 596 (+28) to sit in 23rd place in the 27-school field, entering Saturday’s final round.

Rutgers had the 15th best score on the tournament’s second round, substantially improving on its opening-round 306 (+22) to move up two spots in the team standings. Wake Forest leads the three-day tournament, held at the 6,864-yard, par-71 Golf Club at Tennessee and hosted by the Southeastern Conference, with a 14-under-par 554. Rhys Davies of East Tennessee State leads the 141-competitor individual field with an 11-under-par 131 (66-65).

The top 10 finishers in the regional along with the top two individual performers not on advancing teams will advance on to the NCAA Championships Finals, held June 1-4 at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, MD. RU is currently 27 strokes behind 10th-place Georgia Southern, which owns a one-over-par 569 (281-288).

Senior Brent Pittman (Montvale, NJ) leads Rutgers and currently sits tied for 19th place overall after shooting a one-under-par 70 for the second-straight day. He owns a two-under-par 140 entering the event’s final day. Pittman is currently fifth-best of the individuals who represent teams not currently among the top-10 in the standings, sitting just two-strokes behind the second-place competitor.

Junior Jason Bataille (South Plainfield, NJ) had Rutgers’ best round of the day with a three-under-par 68, improving on his first-round total by eight strokes. His two-round total of two-over-par 144 (76-68) ties him for 48th overall.

Junior Mike Kosup (Flemington, NJ) shot 13 strokes better than his first-round total to card an even-par 71 on Friday. He owns a two-day total of 155 (84-71) and enters the final day of competition tied for 121st.

Sophomore John Browndorf (Rumson, NJ) shot an 81 on Friday to give him a two-round score of 159 (78-81), which places him in a tie for 132nd.

Junior Erick Morales (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) is tied for 136th after firing an 81 on Friday for a two-day total of 163 (82-81).
