KINGSTON SPRINGS, TN – The Rutgers men’s golf team fired a 306 (+22) and currently sits in 25th place out of the 27 teams before first-round play was suspended at the NCAA East Regional in Kingston Springs, TN, near Nashville. Twenty one of the 27 teams in the East Regional completed their rounds before play was suspended due to darkness, where earlier in the day, weather forced a nearly two-hour delay.
Play will resume on Friday beginning at 8 a.m. with the conclusion of round one, followed by round two. The three-day tournament, held at the 6,864-yard, par-71 Golf Club at Tennessee and hosted by the Southeastern Conference, will conclude on Saturday.
The top 10 finishers in the regional along with the top two individual performers not on advancing teams will advance on to the NCAA Championships Finals, held June 1-4 at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, MD.
Senior Brent Pittman (Montvale, NJ) leads Rutgers and currently sits tied for 27th overall out of 141 competitors with a one-under-par 70 on Thursday. Junior Jason Bataille (South Plainfield, NJ) carded a five-over-par 76 and is 99th as play was suspended.
Sophomore John Browndorf (Rumson, NJ) fired a seven-over-par 78 and is currently tied for 118th. Junior Erick Morales (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) is tied for 134th with an 82, while junior Mike Kosup (Flemington, NJ) fired an 84 and is tied for 138th.
