PRINCETON, NJ – The Rutgers men’s golf team carded a 595 (296-299) for the two-round Princeton Invitational this weekend to finish sixth for the tournament. The event, held at the par-71 Springdale Golf Club, began on Friday and concluded on Saturday with a round each day.
The host-Tigers won the team crown with a 583 (291-292), while Navy’s Billy Hurley shot a three-under-par, 139 (68-71) to win the individual title.
Junior Brent Pittman (Montvale, NJ) led all Scarlet Knights with a sixth-place finish after carding a three-over-par, 145 (74-71) for the tournament.
Senior Brian Whitman (Blairstown, NJ) shot a nine-over-par, 151 (72-79) to tie for 30th overall. Sophomore Mike Kosup (Flemington, NJ) was just one stroke behind his teammate with a 152 (71-81) for the tournament to tie for 36th.
Freshman Seth Hirschhorn (Willingboro, NJ) carded a 153 (81-72) to tie for 40th overall, while sophomore Erick Morales (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) fired a 156 (79-77) to tie for 66th out of 117 participants in the tournament.
Rutgers will return to action Saturday and Sunday April 24-25, at the BIG EAST Championships in South Bend, IN.
