PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers University sophomore Jonathan Chang (Valencia, Calif.) was today named to the Division I Ping All-Northeast Region Team. Playing in first position, Chang had another strong season for the Scarlet Knights and led the team in scoring in each of the final five tournaments this Spring.
"Our program is very excited for Jonathan to earn this recognition,” said Rutgers head men’s golf coach Rob Shutte. “He has started to see all of his hard work pay off. It’s going to be fun working with him the next two years to reach new heights, both on and off the course. "
This spring, Chang had three top 20 finishes. He placed third among 78 competitors with a two under 211 (68-72-71) at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, 13th with a 213 (73-66-74) at the 78-player Princeton Invitational and tied for 20th with a 225 (74-74-77) at the 54-competitor Colleton River Collegiate. He was also the Scarlet Knights top finisher at the American Athletic Conference Championship and the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate.
In the fall, Chang placed 11th with a 222 (76-71-75) to help Rutgers win the Hartford Hawks Invitational and tied for 17th with a 159 (81-78) to help the Scarlet Knights capture victory at the Lehigh Invitational. He also tied for 15th with a 219 (73-70-76) at the 90-player Rutgers Invitational and tied for 14th in the 74-player field at the Badger Invitational.
Chang was joined on the Ping All-Northeast Region Team by four future Big Ten Conference peers in Sean Bosdosh and Victor Fox of Maryland, and J.D. Dornes and Jens Talbert of Penn State.
