CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA – Rutgers men’s golf is in eighth place with a 626 (310-316) score after the opening two rounds of the Cal State Fullerton Folino Invitational presented by Microsemi, played Monday at Industry Hills Golf Course at Pacific Palms Resort. Freshman Michael Howe (Temecula, Calif.) paced the Scarlet Knights on day one, carding a 152 (77-75) to enter Tuesday’s final round 16th in the 52-player field.
Fellow California native Jonathan Chang (Valencia, Calif.) also performed well. The sophomore is tied for 30th with a 156 (75-81).
Junior Jacob Stockl (Clark, N.J.) and seniors Doug Walters (Blairstown, N.J.) and Jonathan Renza (Cortland Manor, N.Y.) comprise the rest of the team scorecard. Stockl is tied for 38th with a 159 (78-81), Renza is tied for 41st with a 160 (80-80) and Walters is tied for 44th with a 161 (81-80).
Cal State Fullerton senior Mark Anguiano fired a tournament single-round record 66 (-6) on Monday, helping the host Titans improve two strokes on the second round from the first to land in first place (572, -4) after 36 holes. UC Irvine is 14 strokes off the pace in second place with a 586.
