Morales to Compete in 2012 World Amateur Team Championship

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Former Rutgers golf standout Erick Morales will be competing in the 2012 World Amateur Team Championship for Puerto Rico. The championship will take place October 4-7, 2012 in Antalya, Turkey. Results will be posted on www.GolfStatResults.com

Morales competed for the Scarlet Knights from 2003 to 2006 under head coach Maura Waters-Ballard. As a veteran in international competition, his resume includes a PGA Tour start at the 2011 Puerto Rico open and a 2004 appearance in the World Amateur Championship. Morales ranked as the top individual amateur in the 2009 and 2011 Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship. He is currently ranked first among the amateurs in Puerto Rico during the 2012 season.

Another former Scarlet Knight, Dan Horner, competed in the US Mid-Amateur Championship as a member of the US state team for Utah. The championship took place Sept. 8-13, 2012 in Lake Forest, Ill. Horner tied for 16th place and finished with a 146 (75-71). Horner then went on to compete in the 2012 Crump Cup in Pine Valley, NJ, which took place this past weekend.
