Rutgers Tied for 11th after 2nd Round of BIG EAST Championship

REUNION, FL – The Rutgers men’s golf team is tied for 11th with a 618 (312-306) total after two rounds at the BIG EAST Championship, played Sunday and Monday on the Watson Course at Reunion Resort & Club. Sophomore Jonathan Renza (Cortland Manor, N.Y.) is pacing the Scarlet Knights with a 148 (74-74) to enter Tuesday’s final round tied for 19th in the 60-player field.

Renza is minus two in par five scoring and even in par three scoring.

Sophomore Doug Walters (Blairstown, N.J.) is also among the top half of the leaderboard, tied for 28th with a 150 (74-76). He has a team-best 24 pars.

Freshman Jacob Stockl (Clark, N.J.), sophomore Dillon Corbo (Montville, N.J.) and junior John Fagan (Flemington, N.J.), comprise the rest of the team scorecard. Stockl is tied for 55th with a 162 (84-78), Corbo is 58th with a 163 (85-78) and Fagan is 59th with a 164 (80-84).

Notre Dame shot a 286 during the second round to take a seven-shot advantage over Louisville after day two. Notre Dame has a two day total of 570. Irish senior Max Scodro sits in first place individually after shooting a four under-par score of 68. He sits at seven under par for the tournament and holds a two stroke lead. Scodro posted a 33 on the front nine including an eagle on the par-five eighth hole.

Louisville senior Justin Dorward sits in second place individually at five under par. He posted an even par round on day two. The Cardinals are in second place with a two day total of 577.

The third and final round tees-off Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. Eastern.
