Port St. Lucie, FL - The Rutgers men’s golf team is in fourth place with a 311 team score after the opening round of the Homewood Suites Invitational, played Friday on the Dye Course at PGA Village. Hosted by Siena, the seven team event concludes on Saturday with an additional 18 holes.
Sophomore Jonathan Renza (Cortland Manor, N.Y), junior John Fagan (Flemington, N.J.) and freshman Hyung Mo Kim (Norwood, N.J.) paced the Scarlet Knights on day one, carding 77 to enter Saturday’s final round tied for 11th in the 45-player field. Sophomore Doug Walters (Blairstown, N.J.) and freshman Jacob Stockl (Clark, N.J.) rounded out the team scorecard. Stockl is tied for 24th with an 80 and Walters is tied for 33rd with an 83.
Sophomores Dillon Corbo (Montville, N.J.) and Jeff Lefevre (Linwood, N.J.) are playing the event as individuals. Corbo is tied for 31st with an 82 and Lefevre is tied for 40th with an 86.
Long Island leads the tournament with a 296 team total.
The Homewood Suites Invitational is the first of five tournaments the Scarlet Knights are slated to compete in this spring.
